BIOGRAPHY

Growing up in rural Wisconsin profoundly shaped Kainz’s relationship with materials. On her family's dairy farm, salvaged wood served multiple purposes—from barn construction to fuel for the wood stove that heated their home. This early exposure to resourcefulness and finding potential in discarded materials continues to influence her artistic practice today.

Kainz holds degrees in neuroscience and completed her postdoctoral research at Harvard University before fully committing to her artistic practice.  Her sculpture installation Endurance is currently on display until September 2, 2025 in Riverway Park in Brookline, MA as part of the Studios Without Walls exhibition.
