About
Pam Kainz is an artist based in Wayland, Massachusetts, whose practice is shaped by her background in neuroscience. Guided by curiosity and experimentation, she explores material transformation as both process and metaphor. For over a decade, this theme has remained central to her work. In her current series of abstract sculptures and paintings, Kainz uses fire torches to alter wood and other surfaces, allowing elemental forces to leave their mark. Rather than depict transformation, her work embodies it—each piece a quiet record of change, evoking the raw beauty found in moments of metamorphosis.
Kainz is currently exhibiting additional work at Bromfield Gallery in Boston and has a public art installation titled Endurance on view through September in Riverway Park, Brookline. The installation features twelve charred cedar sculptures arranged to evoke strength, resilience, and connection.
